What are charter schools?
Charter schools are public schools of choice. They are non-profit organizations that provide education services. They are tuition free, publicly funded schools that are largely free to innovate and are managed by their own governing board.
Who may start a charter school?
Charter schools are an avenue for parents, teachers, and community members to create new and more flexible ways of educating students within the public school system.
Will there be tuition?
No, Aspen Ridge Preparatory School is a public school which receives public funding through per pupil revenue. However, public funding for Kindergarten is only for a half day. Families who are interested in the full-day Kindergarten option must pay tuition for the other half of the day.
What are the class sizes?
Aspen Ridge strives for small class sizes to ensure quality, individualized instruction for each student.

Morning Kindergarten: 8:30-11:30
Full Day Kindergarten: 8:30-3:00
1st-5th Grade: 8:30-3:05
Where is Aspen Ridge Preparatory School located?
Aspen Ridge Preparatory School is located at 705 Austin Avenue in Erie. We are centrally located near the Erie Library and Community Center.
How does a charter school differ from a traditional public school?
Charter schools operate with freedom from many of the regulations that apply to traditional public schools. The "charter" establishing each such school is a performance contract detailing the school's mission, program, goals, students served, methods of assessment, and ways to measure success. The basic concept of charter schools is that they exercise increased autonomy in return for increased accountability to several groups: the sponsor that grants the charter, the parents who choose the charter school, and the public that funds them.
Who is eligible to enroll?
Students in grades K-5 shall be considered for admission into the program without regard to race, creed, color, sex, gender orientation, national origin, religion, ancestry, disability, or need for special education services.
Are special education services available?
Aspen Ridge is subject to all federal and state laws under IDEA for special education. We purchase special education services from the St. Vrain Valley School District and will be accountable to the District Board of Education regarding compliance with all special education and disability laws.
Are the needs of gifted and talented students addressed?
Yes, Aspen Ridge Preparatory School has the resources to meet the needs of all learners. Through ability grouping, in-classroom curriculum differentiation, and options for in-depth exploration of topics gifted students will be challenged to reach their full potential.
Will ARPS provide student transportation?
No, ARPS will not provide student transportation to and from school. However, we will work with the carpool service RideArrangers (www.ridearrangers.org) to provide parents with a list of families nearby they can arrange a carpool with to and from school. In addition to the carpool service, RideArrangers also provides families with a list of others nearby who are interested in biking and walking to school with others.
Will there be a hot lunch service available to students?
Yes, ARPS offers a hot lunch service daily.
