March Madness reading challenge

The sneakers are laced, the brackets are set, and the books are waiting! At Aspen Ridge, we don’t just celebrate basketball in March. We celebrate the power of a great story. Our annual March Madness Reading Challenge is officially back, and we are ready to see our Owls "read, read, read" their way to the championship.

The Road to the Final Four (Bookshelf Edition)
This isn't just a reading log; it’s a full-court press! Each year, we launch this challenge to encourage a lifelong love of literacy. Every student tracks their reading minutes, which are then totaled up by class. From there, it’s a head-to-head battle in our tournament bracket. Classes will compete to see who can out-read their opponents and move on to the next round.

The competition is always fierce, and our staff is getting in on the action, too! We have two dedicated staff teams currently training (by reading, of course) to stay in the bracket. They’re trying their best to keep up, but as we know, our students are incredibly hard to beat!

Stock Up at the Book Fair
To make sure everyone has plenty of "fuel" for the challenge, our Book Fair is open all week long! This is the perfect time for families to stock up on fresh reads for Spring Break. Whether you’re heading to the beach, hitting the mountain slopes, or enjoying a staycation right here in lovely Erie, Colorado, a new book is the best travel companion.

Book Fair Shopping Hours:

  • Monday – Thursday: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm

  • Friday: 8:30 am to 1:00 pm

The Reading Challenge officially tips off after school this Friday, March 13th. Let’s make this the biggest reading year yet! Go, Owls!
