Dear Aspen Ridge Parents and Caregivers,

We have spoken with the Town of Erie Police and have confirmed that there is a construction-related gas leak near our school on County Line Road. There is a noticeable smell of gas in the area. Out of an abundance of caution, we are keeping students indoors for recess at this time. Xcel Energy has checked our building and confirmed that it is not affected by the leak.

For families picking up students from morning preschool or dropping off for afternoon PreK, please note that County Line Road is closed between Austin and Bonnell. You will need to use an alternate route for both drop-off and pick-up.

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Last week, we marked our 100th day of learning and growing at Aspen Ridge! Quite a few very wise, very adorable 100-year-old Owls helped us celebrate, and we couldn’t resist sharing the cuteness. Happy 100 Days, ARPS!

💚 One of our favorite weeks of the year at ARPS is here! 💚

Kindness Week is our chance to come together as a community and show just how powerful kindness can be. Families are invited to join us by completing as many random acts of kindness as you can this week, and we hope you’ll carry that spirit with you all year long!

🌟This Thursday, 1/29, also marks the 100th day of school, and we’re celebrating by giving back. Students are invited to bring in 100 pennies (or one dollar, or any amount you would like to donate in any form) to support LightShine Canine Rescue. This organization was chosen by Ms. Culver in memory of her son, Max. LightShine was Max’s favorite organization, and he cared deeply about helping puppies find safe, happy homes.

🌟We will also honor Max on Friday with a special Disney-themed dress-down day. Max loved all things Disney and was known in our community for his kindness and care for others.

Let’s come together this week to be kind, lift one another up, and support one another in meaningful ways.

We’re so grateful to the OtterCares Foundation for awarding us an Innovation Station Grant! We received the grant just last month and are already putting it to great use in our MakerSpace this semester as we build up our textile arts program. Our students are learning to create, experiment, and problem-solve using a wide range of materials. From stitching to designing, textile arts give students new ways to express ideas and bring their creativity to life. Thank you, OtterCares Foundation, for investing in innovation and hands-on learning! 💚

Parking Update – Overflow Field Lot

If you use the overflow parking area in the field to the east of school, you may have noticed a section has been improved with road base (a compacted gravel surface). We recommend parking in this area whenever possible.

During rainy or snowy weather, this surface helps reduce mud and the chance of cars getting stuck, and it can be plowed more easily when it snows. The area is marked with reflectors so our plow truck knows where to focus snow removal. We’ve removed the rope that previously marked the space, as it was causing traffic issues in the lot.

You’re still welcome to park outside of the road base area if needed, but we don’t recommend doing so when the ground is wet.

Thank you for your patience and for driving carefully in this area!

Nominate a Teacher for Educator of the Year!

Aspen Ridge wouldn’t be the amazing, student-centered community we all love without the heart, dedication, and hard work of our incredible teachers. Each day they make a lasting difference in the lives of our students, and we are so lucky to have them on our team. If an ARPS teacher has made an impact on your child’s life, let them know how much they’re appreciated by nominating them for an Educator of the Year award!

Each year, the St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation hosts the Celebration of Excellence Awards (formerly known as Tribute to Teachers) to honor outstanding educators across the district. Show your appreciation by nominating an Aspen Ridge teacher who exemplifies excellence in teaching. Nominations are open now through February 5th. Hop online today to submit your nomination!

Community Update, 12/16 as of 7:50pm

Dear Aspen Ridge Families and Community Members,

We’d like to provide an update following our earlier communication.

Xcel Energy has shared that power outages are unlikely to affect Erie tomorrow, December 17, so we plan to operate on a normal school schedule.

We will continue to monitor updates from both Xcel Energy and the Town of Erie. Our current plan is to remain open and continue the school day as usual unless an unexpected power outage occurs.

In the unlikely event that a power outage does impact our campus, we will communicate with families to arrange student pickup. For that reason, we ask that families monitor their email, our website, and our social media channels throughout the day for updates. We kindly ask for patience and grace should this situation arise, as many of our systems rely on electricity.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Sincerely,

Charla Salmeron
Head of School
Aspen Ridge Prep School

Community Update, 12/16 as of 8:45am

Dear Aspen Ridge Families and Community Members,

We want to share an important update regarding this week.

Xcel Energy has notified us that they will be closely monitoring wind conditions on Wednesday, as very high winds are expected. If they determine it is necessary for fire safety, Xcel may intentionally shut off power to certain areas of Erie, including Aspen Ridge Prep School.

At this time, we plan to be open and operate as usual all week. However, if power is shut off, we would not be able to keep school open and would need to close for the day.

We encourage families to think of this situation similarly to times when inclement weather is forecast. School is planned to be in session, but there is a possibility that conditions could require a closure.

Please be sure to check our website/app, your email, and/or our social media channels for any updates regarding changes to the school schedule.

We are hopeful that power will remain on and that we will enjoy a full, uninterrupted final week of the quarter/semester before winter break. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility.

Sincerely,

Charla Salmeron

Austin Avenue Roundabout Update:
The West Austin Avenue access off County Line Road will be closed from Monday, December 8th, through Thursday morning, December 11th. The closure and associated detours will mirror the previous closure in this area. Drivers will not be able to turn west onto Austin from County Line Road or use West Austin to access County Line Road during the closure. Families who typically use West Austin from County Line Road to reach the school will need to follow a detour route during this time.

Visit https://www.erieco.gov/2506/Austin-Ave-Roundabout for full details and to sign up for updates/alerts.

🎁 Precious Gift Program – 29 Tags Left! 🎁

Hey ARPS families! We still have 29 gift tags left for our Precious Gift program. For many of these kiddos, the gifts from this program may be the only ones they receive this season.

Thank you so much to everyone who has already grabbed a tag — your kindness means the world! 💚 If you haven’t had a chance yet, there’s still time to help us bring a little extra joy and normalcy to these children during the holidays.

✨ Just a reminder: unwrapped gifts are due back by December 11th. We're so grateful for our incredibly caring community!
